What happened to Topshop in London?
The owner of furniture retail giant IKEA bought Topshop’s former flagship store on Oxford Street this morning, creating a headline-grabbing home for the Swedish mega brand in London’s West End. The collapse of Arcadia endangered up to 13,000 jobs and meant the collapse of a group whose brands included Topshop, Topman, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, and Burton. Online retailer Asos bought Topshop and Miss Selfridge brands in February for 330 million pounds but didn’t buy any stores. Administrators Deloitte is currently looking for buyers for all of Arcadia’s brands, including Topshop.
